The Kaleidoscope Garden a moment in the evening for new collaborations and improvisation will be an exciting an collaboration of Amika and the Halpin Trio performing together for the first time.
As well as this Cologne based saxophonist Matt Halpin and his organ trio will also be returning to Dublin to play original compositions from Halpin’s most recent release “Agreements”. Kaleidoscope has been named Wigmore Hall's new Associate Ensemble -August 2020. 2 3 The band were also known at various times as The Sidekicks. Kaleidoscope's debut album, American Quintets, drops May 28 on Chandos Records -May 2021. The band's songs combined the elements of psychedelia with whimsical lyrics. 1 It is not to be confused with the American psychedelic folk band of the same name. Together they make up Amika, a versatile quartet known for their “soul drenched sound” (Downbeat Magazine), they will present a varied Kaleidoscope (Night) mix of genres from Bach to Nordic classical folk fusion to edgy American composer Caroline Shaw. Kaleidoscope are an English psychedelic rock band from London that originally were active between 19. Fifty percent of the Amika string quartet are Dublin born sisters Peggy and Lucy Nolan, they will bring their esteemed colleagues Simmy Singh & Laura Senior to our stage for the very first time. The California group were formed under the nucleus of multi-instrumentalists David Lindley and Chris Darrow in the mid-60s.
A line up of exceptional Irish born artists now based abroad will come home for a very special performance. Kaleidoscope were arguably the most eclectic band of the psychedelic era, weaving together folk, blues, Middle Eastern, and acid more often and more seamlessly than any other musicians. Kaleidoscope students practiced school readiness skills through early learning, music, creative movement, and visual arts classes.
